Excellent capture. I think red-winged blackbirds can read my mind - if I even think of taking a shot of one it flies away.

LOL. You might have to offer a little incentive - such as the suet you put out for the woodpeckers:)

Artist's Description

The Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) is a passerine bird of the family Icteridae found in most of North and much of Central America. It breeds from Alaska and Newfoundland south to Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, and Guatemala, with isolated populations in western El Salvador, northwestern Honduras, and northwestern Costa Rica. It may winter as far north as Pennsylvania and British Columbia, but northern populations are generally migratory, moving south to Mexico and the southern United States. Claims have been made that it is the most abundant and best studied living bird in North America. The Red-winged Blackbird is sexually dimorphic; the male is all black with a red shoulder and yellow wing bar, while the female is a nondescript dark brown. Seeds and insects make up the bulk of the Red-winged Blackbird's diet.

About Inge Riis McDonald

Inge Riis McDonald

Welcome to my FAA portfolio. I hope you like what you see. Photography has been a big part of my life for many years, and as I get older, it is becoming more so. I was born and raised in Denmark and got to go back and work there for four years recently. I lived in California for many years and now Vancouver Island is where I call home. Travel was a big part of my career and the camera was often part of my carry-on. My interests in photography are varied - I try to capture the light wherever I can. To me photography is all about seeing and I don't just see things one way in this exciting and versatile world. What I often try to do - is tell a story with my image - or invoke a feeling with mood and light. Photography is a continuing...
