A patch of Camas wildflowers on Shack Island in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island.
The Camas or flowers of the Camassia family are native to western North America from south British Columbia to north California. They are abundant in moist meadows in the spring. They are edible and nutritious and were an important stable in the First People's diet.
