The peony is a flowering plant native to Western North America, Europe and Asia. There are about 30 different species of Paeonia.
It is a herbaceous, deciduous, perennial plant that grows up to a meter tall with lobed leaves and large beautiful flowers in colours ranging from white to red and yellow. The peony blooms in late spring and early summer and is a very popular garden plant.
