Description
The pacific dogwood is the provincial flower of British Columbia, Canada. It is a small tree or shrub, up to 15 meters tall with branches arranged in a circular pattern around the tree. The leaves are opposite, oval with pointed tips.
The beautiful, showy, white flowers are four to six modified leaves that surround a cluster of 30 to 40 small, green flowers. The flowers often appear to have a very slight green tinge. The fruits are dark red berries that are edible but bitter tasting.
