Description
Coquille River Lighthouse
Coquille River Lighthouse is located in Bullards Beach State Park, two miles north of Bandon on the north bank of the Coquille River in Southern Oregon. It was built in 1895 and first lit in 1896. It was decommissioned in 1939 and replaced by an automated light on the jetty on the south side of the river. The beautiful little lighthouse was left abandoned and vandalized until 1976-79 when it was restored into an interpretive center.
Coquille River Lighthouse was designed to guide boats through the dangerous mouth of Coquille River, however, after making numerous improvements to the river, the lighthouse became obsolete.
