It could be an Edgeworthia, though I don't remember an Edgeworthia having as much black stamens in the middle of the flower. It would be nice to know where and when the picture was taken and if it is a shrub or perennial. It is not a rhododendron or a Phygelius (cape fuchsia).

Hi, I think your flower is called a Kangaroo Paw. I have only seen the yellow in photos, but the red ones are quite popular where I live. Hope that helps.

Indeed Inge, this is a beautiful flower and great capture. Was it in a garden, in the wild, tree, fragrant...? Just curious. When I first saw it, I thought of something like a kind of fuschiia or Lilly, but am as curious as are you! Beautiful anyway!!!!! FLTw

Is this a cape fuschia or rhododendron hybrid?

I was born and raised in Denmark and got to go back and work there for four years recently. I lived in California for many years and now Vancouver Island is where I call home. Travel was a big part of my career and the camera was often part of my carry-on. My interests in photography are varied - I try to capture the light wherever I can. To me photography is all about seeing and I don't just see things one way in this exciting and versatile world. What I often try to do - is tell a story with my image - or invoke a feeling with mood and light. Photography is a continuing...
