Description
The Spotted Towhee is a large striking sparrow native to the western part of North America. The male towhee is very colourful with a black head, black and white spotted wings, rufous red flanks and a white chest. The female towhees are grayish brown.
The spotted Towhees hop over the ground, usually beneath dense shrubery, scratching for food. They are also commonly found in backyards, and forest edges.
