Description
The small Downy Woodpecker (picoides pubescens) is a common and busy little bird that is a familiar sight at backyard feeders and in parks and forests, often in the company of groups of Chickadees and Nuthatches. It is the smallest of the woodpeckers The males have a small red patch on the back of the head.
